Impressions from Montmartre

A station with a million steps
and a thousand swirling voices
crests into a living sculpture -
Ave Maria dances among the cobblestones
up the hillside to ballet with the bells
sax sex among the clouds -
“Un cafe, s’il vous plait,”
echoes from small tables and wicker chairs,
open doors and sidewalk leisures -
Tantalizing air trembles in the heat
stirring hearts of ancient dialogue
and creativity from the ages -
Inspiration – the muse,
Living, breathing, dancing here
